We test the order.
Your customer finds you on Instagram, orders on the app, tries it on at home and returns it in store. SMRC tests that whole journey the way your customers live it, with shoppers recruited to match them, from Gen Z students to young professionals and mothers.
Fashion mystery shopping is an independent test of how a clothing, footwear or accessories brand treats real customers online and in store. Trained shoppers who match the brand's customer profile browse, order, receive, try on and return items, then score each step against the brand's standards with photo, screenshot and receipt evidence.
In the UAE a single fashion purchase often crosses channels: found on social media, ordered on an app, collected or returned in a mall store. SMRC tests the points where those channels meet, because that is where customers are most often let down.
Each stage is scored on its own and as part of one journey, so you can see exactly where a sale or a customer is lost.
Website, app and social: sizes and stock shown correctly, prices and promo codes working, influencer offers honoured.
Scored: accuracyCheckout, payment and pay-later options, delivery promises, click and collect and orders placed by WhatsApp or DM.
Scored: ease and clarityDelivery on time, packaging, the right item in the right size and condition matching the photos.
Scored: promise keptFitting room service, size availability, styling advice and how staff treat young and first-time shoppers.
Scored: serviceReturns and exchanges in practice: store returns of online orders, refund speed and whether the policy is explained correctly.
Scored: trust keptMost fashion brands audit the store. Their customers judge them on the return.
A mystery shop only tells the truth if the shopper is someone your store team would expect to serve. SMRC recruits shoppers to match each persona.
Social discovery, app checkout, student offers and whether staff take a younger shopper seriously.
Occasion and workwear, styling advice, click and collect and fitting room service.
Abaya and modest ranges, fitting room privacy and service in Arabic.
Size ranges, help with children in store and returns of items that did not fit.
Sale pricing on the shelf and at the till, stock of advertised items and price matching.
Launch-day stock, product knowledge and online versus store availability.
Fashion mystery shopping only works if the shopper does exactly what a customer would do. These are the rules every SMRC programme follows.
Orders are placed and paid for like any customer, then returned or kept as the brief says. Every order is reconciled after each wave.
Screenshots, order confirmations, delivery photos, receipts and in-store time and location are attached to each score.
Shoppers are chosen by age, gender, language and style, briefed for each task and rotated so they are not recognised.
Waves can run around launches and sale periods such as White Friday, Ramadan and Dubai Shopping Festival.
