Mystery Shopping

We check the greeting on every visit.

We send trained evaluators into your stores, branches and call centres as ordinary customers, then hand you an honest, evidence-backed picture of the experience your customers actually receive. Across the UAE and the Gulf.

One visit, a full scorecard

This is what comes back from a single evaluation

A trained shopper follows the scenario you designed, and every moment that matters is scored against your standard and backed by evidence, from the greeting to the callback that either did or did not arrive.

What it is

Mystery shopping measures the gap between the experience you designed and the one your customers actually get.

A trained shopper visits as a real customer, follows a scenario built around your standards, and records exactly what happened, backed by evidence. It turns a vague sense that service could be better into specific, fixable findings, branch by branch, and it does it consistently enough to compare one location against another and this month against last.

Score vs reality

The number that matters is the gap

A score on its own is easy to game. Branch teams are measured on their own KPIs, and those KPIs have a way of always looking healthy. Mystery shopping is the independent check. We run the scenario a real customer would, capture the evidence, and set our findings against the KPIs your teams report, so you can see exactly where the branch-level story and the head-office story diverge.

This is why we insist on evidence. Every score carries the audio, photo or timing behind it, so a disputed finding is settled by the record, not by whose word carries the most weight in the room.

What we evaluate

The moments that decide whether a customer comes back

What we scoreWhat you learn
Greeting & wait timeWhether customers are acknowledged, and how long they wait before anyone serves them.
Product knowledgeWhether staff can actually answer the questions that decide a purchase.
Needs discoveryWhether staff ask before they pitch, or default straight to a script.
Upsell & cross-sellWhether the revenue moments in your process are actually happening.
Process & complianceWhether mandatory steps, disclosures and checks are followed.
Cleanliness & environmentWhether the space matches the brand you are paying to project.
Complaint handlingHow staff behave when something goes wrong, which is when loyalty is won or lost.
Follow-up & callbackWhether the promised call, quote or email actually arrived.
Red-flag eventsCritical failures flagged for immediate action, not buried inside an average.
How we work

Four steps, built around your standards

  1. We design the scenario and scorecard

Around your standards, your customer and your critical steps, not a generic checklist. If a step is mandatory for you, it is scored.

  2. We recruit and match evaluators

Trained shoppers matched to your customer profile, briefed on the scenario, and rotated so no branch learns a face.

  3. We field with evidence

GPS and timestamp on every visit, with audio, photo and timing captured. Offline where connectivity is a constraint.

  4. We score, check and report

Scored against your scorecard, checked against your internal KPIs, and delivered with red-flag alerts and drill-down from network to branch.

Why SMRC

A score you can act on, and prove

Anyone can hand you a score. We hand you one backed by evidence and checked against reality: trained evaluators, audio, photo and timing on every visit, results set against the KPIs your own teams report, and findings in the same week rather than a month later. Our senior team includes ex-MEMRB and ex-GfK researchers, and we work across the UAE, Oman and the wider Gulf in Arabic and English.

FAQ

Questions we get asked

How is mystery shopping different from a customer survey?

A survey asks customers to remember and rate. Mystery shopping sends a trained evaluator through a defined scenario and records exactly what happened, with evidence. It measures the process, not just the perception, and it is consistent enough to compare branches and track change over time.

Do your evaluators get recognised by staff?

We match evaluators to your customer profile, brief them on the scenario, and rotate them so no branch learns a face. For specialist settings we recruit accordingly.

Can we set our own scorecard?

Yes. The scorecard is built around your standards and critical steps. We shape it with you, then run it consistently so results are comparable across branches and over time.

What evidence do we get?

Depending on the setting, audio, photographs and timings, plus GPS and timestamp on every visit. Every score can be traced back to the evidence behind it.

How fast are results?

Findings in the same week, with red-flag alerts on critical failures as they are found, rather than a month-later PDF.

Which sectors do you cover?

Banks, retail, hotels, restaurants, automotive, airlines and airports, hospitals, and customer service or call centres, across the UAE, Oman and the wider Gulf.
